Honestly? We got into this because we were tired of seeing buildings that fight against their environment instead of working with it.
Back in '09, I started this studio in a cramped Queen West office with just two drafting tables and a vision that probably seemed a bit idealistic. The idea was simple – what if every building we designed actually gave something back to its surroundings instead of just taking?
Fast forward to today, and we've designed over 180 projects across Ontario. Some big, some small, but all carrying that same DNA of respect for nature and community. Our team's grown to 14 talented folks who genuinely care about this stuff – not because it's trendy, but because it matters.

Every project starts with coffee and conversation. We need to understand your story, your needs, and what really matters to you before we even think about sketching.
We spend time on-site at different times of day, watching how light moves, where wind flows, what the neighbors are up to. You can't design smart without knowing the context.
Every line we draw has a reason. Whether it's maximizing natural light, improving airflow, or creating that perfect moment where inside meets outside – it's all intentional.
We don't disappear after handing over drawings. We're there during construction, solving problems, making adjustments, ensuring the vision becomes reality.
"The best compliment we get? When clients tell us their building feels like it's always been part of the landscape."
— Valaryn Thalquint, Principal Architect
These aren't just buzzwords for us – they're how we approach every single project.
We believe materials should be what they are. Wood looks like wood, concrete looks like concrete. There's beauty in authenticity, and it usually lasts longer too. Plus, local materials mean less transportation emissions and supporting regional economies.
Before we think about HVAC systems or lighting fixtures, we figure out how to use what nature provides. Proper orientation, window placement, and ventilation strategies can cut energy use by half – that's not an exaggeration, we've done it.
Buildings exist in neighborhoods, and they affect everyone around them. We think about sight lines, pedestrian flow, shared spaces. A good building makes the whole block better, not just its own lot.
Your needs will change. Kids grow up, businesses expand, climate gets more extreme. We design with flexibility built in, so your building can adapt instead of becoming obsolete. It's cheaper and way more sustainable than rebuilding.
We've got architects who've worked on everything from tiny laneway houses to mixed-use towers. Landscape architects who actually understand ecology. Interior designers who think about how spaces feel, not just how they look. And project managers who keep everything running smoothly without losing sight of the vision.
What brings us together? We genuinely believe architecture can make life better – for people and the planet. Sounds idealistic, but we've seen it happen too many times to think otherwise.
We're based on Queen West in Toronto, but we work throughout Ontario. If you're thinking about a project and want to chat about possibilities, reach out. First conversation's always free, and there's no pressure – sometimes people just need to talk through ideas before they're ready to commit.
